About Caitlin Coberly

Dr. Caitlin Coberly is a Certified Dog Behavior Consultant through the IAABC. She is a full member of Pet Professionals Guild, and the founding member of the Dog Training 101 Trainers Circle. She specializes in working with aggression and canine compulsive disorder. Caitlin has been force and fear free for over 10 years. You may know her through her Facebook Group, Dog Training 101, the free help group geared towards building a happy life with your dog. Caitlin lives on a small farm in Oregon with her 7 dogs and 3 elderly horses. Caitlin’s philosophy on coercion-free training stems from her over 40 yrs experience training multiple species. Originally trained in “breaking” horses, she found out that a gentle trust-based approach worked better with the “sour” old mare who was entrusted to her. Later, she asked, “if people had been training pointers for over 200 years without e-collars—why we couldn’t do that now?” In experimenting with her 8 pointers, she developed a collaborative and trust-based approach to hunting that she still uses today. Her love for the “bad dogs” has led her to try basic trust-based approaches to working with aggressive and reactive dogs. Now, with virtually 100% success and rapid progress, she considers these trust-based approaches foundational; creating the most ethical, the most effective, and the most time-sensitive methods available. Caitlin takes every opportunity to work with a wide array of breeds and species—in the past working extensively with falcons and other birds of prey, as well as multiple agricultural and wild species up to an including goldfish and spiders.
